This blog is officially dead since October 2009. And yet, there are still people visiting my site every day. This is what they’re interested in:

Google Analytics - How visitors get on my site

These are the keywords people google for and end up on my site. So, just in case you don’t know what to blog about – there’s apparently a lack of content on the web about Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald aka Dr. Luke.
And in case you’re wondering what I’m doing the whole time (apart from trying to manage my university-stuff, and failing desperately with it): I created ca. four hours of video-content about CSS3 & HTML5 (in German unfortunately, but the first video has english subtitles) and will set up the site css3-html5.de, because there is no such site yet in German.

Btw: This post isn’t meant to indicate that I start blogging again. Actually the idea to write this post just popped up in my mind when I was going through the Google Analytics.
Anyway. We shouldn’t forget: Germany just won the football match against England in the World Cup (or “soccer” match as most of my visitors are from the US). Great day. A few impressions of the situation after the match below. In the next round we have to compete against Argentinia…

Just To Make It Public: I Quit Blogging!

I haven’t blogged for the last… uh… months. But I still get readers via Google! So, I won’t take the blog down, but I won’t update it either. I don’t like my blog anyway. Although it has actually always been a good inducement to practice English. (Is this correct? “Inducement”?!)

The reason I actually stopped blogging in the first place is that I’ve become a Twitaddict. (Neologisms are so very Web2.0y!) Whenever I wanna tell the world about something I compromise it to 140 characters or share a link of interest. So, there is no need to have a blog any more. Sad, but true.

Oh, btw: As I don’t take the blog down – I may find a reason to post a new article and revive “me-blogs-it”! In this case… just ignore this post! ;)

Not Blogged for two weeks, but redesigned this site!

Sorry for not having blogged here in the last two weeks. (Twitter is indeed the death of all blogging!) Nevertheless I’ve redesigned the site, tidied and varnished it. But your progress bar won’t be thankful about this: While the old theme weighed around 160KB, the new site weighs almost 300KB! I try to reduce this some time. After the jump: before and after pictures. (very interesting stuff!)

I’m not finished with the redesign to be honest. But the basis is done. I’ve also polished the logo:

The about-text doesn’t slide up and down anymore, but fades in and out now:

The head and the content are now graphically linked to each other. It’s like a source of light would be behind the logo:

The style for the actual content (font-colors, fonts, etc.) isn’t changed yet. And the footer is still the same. And there are things in the css-files I don’t need anymore, but haven’t deleted it yet. So there’s still a lot to do!

The post about the German radio presenter who grabbes his colleague’s breast and gets slapped for it was my first actual post. And because this post is tomorrow two weeks old, my whole blog will be two weeks old then. Many things had happened within these two weeks: The tyhtka-series (which isn’t finished yet btw) brought me a load of visitors – more than I’ve ever expected! I thought the first two to three weeks would pass without any visitors at all. Instead, I already have two feed-subscribers (btw: Hallo, you two… whoever you are), have visitors from all around the world and the tyhtka-post about Lukasz “Dr.Luke” Gottwald became the most read post until today with almost a hundred unique visitors! It was this post which also brought me my first comment: Jig’s comment. I don’t know who Jig is, but what she/he tells about sounds very interesting and profound. Jig hasn’t answered to my respond to her second comment – I hope he/she’ll do this sometime.

On Thursday, 19.2. I received my first Trackback. It wasn’t such a happy event as I expected it to be – it was rather mysterious as you can read here.
The post about the German TV landscape had been another milestone: I published the post at the evening of the 23.2. In the morning of the 24.2. I was quite open-mouthed, because I’ve had 16 visitors who read the post in the few hours between evening and morning. I’ve wondered how all these people actually have found my blog! So, the very same day I installed Google Analytics to track the visitors and learned that half of my visitors are indeed non-Germans!

Yesterday’s post about “Wetten Dass” even enhanced the number of post-views over night: 26 views within 10 hours. Established blogs will laugh about those numbers, but for me – without any blogging-experiences – it’s kinda big stuff! Let’s see what the next two weeks, and the next months will bring..!

BQAAF: Before Questions are Asked Frequently – The Dynamic Menu

Anyone who had visited my site already may have noticed that the menu on the left sidebar is changing every now and then. This has two reasons:
1. I use a Plugin called “Dynamic Menu” which originally had been a Tag Cloud Plugin. I modified it, combined it with another Plugin that I’ve written, so that it puts out a list of the tags with the highest tagvalue. The problem is that this Plugin needs a high amount of posts, tags and visits to work properly. I thought about removing the menu for the beginning, but instead decided to add some code so that
2. Every second day the “10 recent posts” are shown and replacing the dynamic menu. This is not really a good solution, though it should help a bit in the beginning.
Apart from that I also modified the tagvalue-Function to make use of the “Most read posts”-cookies. Very interesting stuff, huh? I just wanted to resolve this “left-sidebar-mystery”.

The problem with just having planned the top of a site: The rest of it becomes verrrrry lousy. I’ve had a dozen styles on this blog. Now, after having visited Gawker again, I reduced them to three (although three is still too much..!).
